The Indian Cultural Association in Hatfield held a 'Diwali Dhamaka' event to celebrate the Hindu festival.
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, with its variants also celebrated in other Indian religions.
The festival symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance - marking the victory of Lord Rama, who returned from exile after 14 years with his wife, the goddess Sita, and brother Laxman.
During Diwali, families come together to worship, share traditional food and sweets, light up their homes and set off fireworks.
The Indian Cultural Association (ICA) was established 49 years ago, and aims to preserve the rich cultural heritage of India in Hertfordshire.
An ICA spokesperson said: "The Indian Cultural Association serves as a bridge in Hertfordshire to connect people of Indian origin and those interested in Indian culture, providing a platform like this to celebrate and share the essence of the diverse and vibrant nation.
