Young performers have the chance to join Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road at auditions for The Wizard of Oz.
Youth musical theatre company Rare Productions will be holding open auditions for its upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz at The Alban Arena in St Albans on Sunday, October 8.
Boasting over 12 years and over 200 shows worth of experience, Rare Productions offers young people the ideal opportunity to work in a wide variety of professional theatres around the country.
The company will once again be stopping off at The Alban Arena to put on its latest production in March next year, but on October 8 creatives are inviting budding performers aged between eight and 21 to come and audition to be a part of the magic.
Applicants will be taught a short excerpt from a song on the day, as well as a movement routine and maybe even asked to read from the script.
Auditions will take between 20 to 30 minutes, and you do not need to book a time – just arrive anytime during the appropriate time slot for your age.
Applicants need not prepare anything beforehand either, just arrive in comfortable footwear and clothing suitable for plenty of moving around and dancing.
Registration opens at 10.30am, and auditions for ages eight to 12 take place from 11am to 12.30pm.
It is then the turn of ages 13 to 21 from 12.30pm to 2pm.
Performances of The Wizard of Oz will take place from March 8 to March 10, 2018, at The Alban Arena.
Including many of the songs from the famous MGM musical, this production of The Wizard of Oz tells the classic tale of a young Kansas farm girl Dorothy, who is whisked suddenly away to a magical land full of memorable characters.
Embarking on a quest to find the mighty Wizard, she teams up with a Scarecrow, a Tin Man and a Cowardly Lion who help her on her journey.
