Celebrate Christmas early with a touring rock 'n' roll variety show in St Albans.

Last year marked the 30-year anniversary of the musical touring production That’ll Be The Day, a regular fixture at The Alban Arena.

And the crew will return to the city centre venue on Tuesday, November 15 with its new 2016 Christmas Party Show.

The origins of That’ll Be The Day can be traced back to 1985, when a variety show called The Happy Days of Rock ‘n’ Roll was launched by Bristol-based agent John Mills for the club and cabaret circuit for a six week autumn tour.

The show had a varied cast of rockers including Fred the Ted, Margo and Trevor, Terry Denton, and a one-boy three-girl singing and dancing group called Fizzical, a creation of Trevor Payne, who had previously enjoyed success with the Medium Wave Band in the 70s.

The success of the first short tour led to seasonal tours, and in 1986 Mills secured a summer season, and the rest, as they say, is history.

On Tuesday, November 15 the production returns to the Arena with its 2016 Christmas Show.

The latest all-singing, all-dancing That’ll Be The Day show celebrates the festive seasons with favourite Christmas classics from the 1950s, 60s and 70s, plus plenty of comedy.

Expect to see tributes to Mick Jagger, Elvis, The Beatles, Tina Turner and many more musical icons.

The production continues to raise money for Make-A-Wish UK, a charity formed in 1986 which supports children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

“We are truly delighted to be supporting Make-A-Wish,” said Trevor.

“The tireless work they do with children across the UK is inspirational and we look forward to a long and fruitful association with this amazing charity.”

Tickets for the That’ll Be The Day Christmas Show in St Albans cost £25 and £23.

The show starts at 7.30pm.
