Stevenage pantomime Peter Pan has the best baddie in the business... oh yes it does!
Jordan Productions picked up the award for ‘Best Male Baddie’ at the first ever Great British Pantomime Awards in London’s West End on Sunday night.
The award recognised Tom Lister’s superb performance as Captain Hook in Peter Pan at the Gordon Craig Theatre.
The ceremony took place at The Theatre Café, Shaftesbury Avenue, and welcomed panto producers, performers and creatives to an evening celebrating all things pantomime.
Jordan Productions received three nominations, all for record-breaking Stevenage show Peter Pan.
The company was in the running for Best Duo (Twist & Pulse as Pirates Swash & Buckle), Best Choreography (Twist & Pulse) as well as Best Male Baddie.
Chris Jordan, managing director of Jordan Productions, who also wrote and directed the pantomime, said: “We had great fun working with Tom and the whole cast of Peter Pan last year and his award is thoroughly deserved.
“Tom had the balance between evil and comedy just right and, of course, he could sing up a storm.
“He’s now preparing to open in 42nd Street in the West End and our preparations are already underway for this year’s spectacular Gordon Craig pantomime.”
The award comes as former Emmerdale star Tom Lister is just a week away from the first preview of 42nd Street at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London where he takes on the role of Julian Marsh in Mark Bramble’s revival of the much-loved musical.
Peter Pan played 96 shows over the 2016 season, welcoming over 46,000 people across the run.
It was a record-breaking season for the Stevenage theatre, achieving 94 per cent capacity.
The 2017 panto season is a busy one for Jordan Productions as creatives will be producing eight shows across the country, with Jack and the Beanstalk taking the stage at the Gordon Craig in Stevenage.
Tickets are already on sale with over 13,000 people having already bagged their seats.
Jack and the Beanstalk is at the Gordon Craig Theatre, in Lytton Way, from Saturday, December 2 until Sunday, January 28, 2018.
