Award-winning society Ware Operatic is ready for Another Op’nin’, Another Show with its production of Kiss Me, Kate at Hertford Theatre
The company will be showcasing its next musical, Kiss Me, Kate at Hertford Theatre from Tuesday, March 6 to Saturday, March 10.
Ware Operatic has had a successful year, receiving two accolades at the regional awards ceremony of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.
The society was recognised for ‘Best Lighting Effect’ for its Summer Concert 2018: West End Shows Past and Present, and ‘Best Small Orchestra/Band’ for John Tripp and friends in the society’s 2017 performance of Chess, also at Hertford Theatre.
The group’s main show for 2018, Kiss Me, Kate, includes music by Cole Porter and a theme based on William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
The comedy follows the on and off-stage antics of two feuding couples during the performance of a musical version of The Bard’s well-known play.
It features popular musical theatre songs including Another Op’nin’, Another Show, Brush up Your Shakespeare, and So in Love.
Ware Operatic chairman Brian Worthington, who also takes an active role in the show, is excited to be returning to Hertford Theatre.
He said: “We have a fantastic cast and crew of both new and established members, everyone putting their own stamp on the show.
“We have gone one step further this year by adding much more dancing, so it promises to be a wonderfully fun and funny performance.”
Kiss Me, Kate runs for five nights and one Saturday matinee from March 6 to March 10 at Hertford Theatre.
Evening performances are at 7.30pm with the matinee on March 10 at 2.30pm.
Tickets can be purchased directly from the theatre’s website at www.hertfordtheatre.com or by calling the box office on 01992 531500.
