FOUR Victorian farces can be seen on one night in Welwyn Garden City later this week.
With more than a touch of Monty Python and the Goons, the quartet of short plays mix duelling pistols, cross-dressing, thwarted lovers, double-crossing, romance and intoxication into a sublime evening of mayhem and merriment.
Box And Cox presents us with a shifty landlady who is renting the same room out to two men, one who works the day shift and one who’s on nights.
The same author, John Maddison Morton, also provides a second play – An Unwarrantable Intrusion.
The remaining two pieces – Wanted: A Young Lady, and Duel In The Dark – are similarly silly, surreal and spirited.
Four Farces plays at the Hawthorne Theatre, Campus West, on Thursday at 8pm.
Tickets are £14 (£12 concessions), or £12 (£10 concessions) if bought in advance.
