Friend of Foe plays at the Hertford Theatre

A PLAY by master storyteller Michael Morpurgo takes to the stage in Hertford later this week.

Hertford Theatre is delighted to welcome back Scamp Theatre Company, the group that brought Private Peaceful to The Wash venue back in March, with a production of Friend or Foe.

It’s a thrilling tale of extraordinary friendship. Set at the height of World War Two, a couple of boys embark on a wondrous adventure deep in the Devonshire countryside.

Evacuated from London, war seemed far away from David and Tucky’s new lives in the country.

Until one night, the skyline is lit up with gun flashes and the distant crump of bombing shatters their new-found peace.

And when a German bomber crashes, the boys feel they should hate the airmen inside. But one of them saves David’s life...

A modern day classic, Morpurgo’s story is adored by children and grown ups alike.

The show runs from tomorrow (Thursday) until Friday.

Tickets are £15, concessions £13, and groups of 10 or more £10. Tickets are available from the box office on 01992 531500 or online at
