ELVIS is in the Building – that’s the name of a new stage show about the King which rocks into Broxbourne Civic Hall in Hoddesdon on Sunday, May 19. And you could win tickets to the show in the Welwyn Hatfield Times’ latest entertainment competition.
Tickets for the show featuring Paul Lillie, one of the UK’s top Elvis impersonators, cost £20.50. Call the box office on 01992 441946 or visit www.broxbourne.gov.uk
However, the Welwyn Hatfield Times has teamed up with the show’s producers to offer two pairs of tickets for the Broxbourne date.
Off stage, Paul is quietly spoken, giving no clue to his on stage antics as he skilfully assumes Presley’s legendary charisma and massive stage presence.
“I began my career playing in an originals band on vocals and guitar,” said Paul.
“I suppose being a musician means I can be more spontaneous on stage, something Elvis was famed for.”
Paul includes the biggest hits drawn from Presley’s entire career. With songs like Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock, (You’re the) Devil in Disguise, A Little Less Conversation and Suspicious Minds to choose from, the audience is treated to an Elvis overload.
“I appear as Elvis would have done during the late 60s,” said Paul. “After his comeback and as he prepared for his Vegas shows.
“It was then that he was at his self-assured best.”
Backed by a live band and gospel singers, Paul’s Elvis is in the Building is acclaimed as the most comprehensive live stage show dedicated to the King currently on tour.
Elvis is in the Building includes all of Elvis’ million-selling hits and is from the same team that produces Thank You For The Music and The Magic of Motown.
