An award-winning EastEnders actress will be swapping Albert Square for The Alban Arena in this year's St Albans pantomime.

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs will be this winter’s production at the Arena.

Opening on Thursday, December 8, 2016, the show is by the same team behind last year’s record-breaking Peter Pan.

Organisers have now confirmed the first main cast members, with EastEnders star Rita Simons and St Albans funnyman Bob Golding set to appear.

Rita is best known for playing Roxy Mitchell in BBC soap opera EastEnders.

She will be the panto’s Wicked Queen and joins a growing list of Walford regulars to have appeared in panto at the Arena, with Larry Lamb, Steve McFadden and Jake Wood having starred in St Albans’ festive offering in recent years.

A statement from the venue said: “We are ecstatic to finally reveal that our Wicked Queen will be award-winning, famous soap star, Rita Simons.

“Also returning alongside her on the St Albans stage, back for his sixth panto at The Alban Arena, is local legend Bob Golding.

“Keep an eye on the website for more exciting cast announcements in what promises to be yet again, St Albans’ biggest pantomime ever!”

Snow White runs until Sunday, January 8, 2017.

To buy tickets for the panto, call the Alban Arena box office on 01727 844488 or book online at www.alban-arena.co.uk
