BE INSPIRED at the University of Hertfordshire tomorrow (Thursday) night when Peter Lovatt, aka Dr Dance, puts on an exhilarating show.

University of Hertfordshire Arts (UHArts) will present the premiere of INSPIRED Psychology: Danced featuring dance guru and the uni’s principle lecturer in psychology, Peter Lovatt, and the work of five exceptional choreographers.

Having appeared on Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, The Graham Norton Show and Daybreak, and heard live every Friday on BBC Three Counties Radio on the Entertainment Hour, it’s now your chance to see his fun, entertaining, full-length show at The Weston Auditorium in Hatfield.

Peter’s show is all about what it is to be human. Why do we think the way we do, why do we behave the way we do and why do we forget so much stuff?

He has teamed up with five amazing choreographers, and their dancers, to bring his stories to life with fresh, exciting and dynamic dance.

Hagit Yakira, Ruth Mills, Sabine Klaus, Dwayne Simms and Hannah Buckley, and Emma Park have created works that touch the soul.

But Peter isn’t just a speaker; he’ll be a movin’ and a groovin’ too, with his Dr Dance Dancers – Holly Jackson-Walters, Scarlett Hiles, Camilla Lochun, Laura Tan, Tanya Hill and Amy Reid. Five of the Dr Dance Dancers are students at the Hatfield-based uni.

A born entertainer, he explained his two passions, dance and psychology.

“Psychology is the most interesting subject in the world, because it’s about people, it’s about you and me,” said Peter.

“It’s about what goes on inside our head; it’s about why we fall in love, why we do crazy things and why we cry at soppy movies. Dance is the most important part of my life.

“I left [Beaumont] school barely able to read and through dance I travelled the world, performed in some amazing theatres and learnt to read.

“Combining dance and psychology in my life, work and performances, allow me to combine my two passions, and I love it!”

INSPIRED Psychology: Danced takes place on Thursday, May 26 at 7.30pm at The Weston Auditorium on the university’s de Havilland Campus.

Tickets cost £6, and £4 concessions, and can be purchased from the UHArts box office on 01707 281127.

Catch the show and Peter before they pirouette off to stardom!
