Bah, humbug! Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and a series of ghosts are coming to the stage in Knebworth this week.

Knebworth Amateur Theatrical Society (KATS) presents A Christmas Carol in the Village Hall from Thursday, November 23 to Saturday, November 25.

Charles Dickens’ classic story is unforgettable, and KATS’ own Vivian Richardson has adapted the tale to give it a fresh, seasonal festive feeling that will charm Hertfordshire audiences.

On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by a series of ghosts, starting with his old business partner, Jacob Marley.

The three spirits that follow – the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come – show Scrooge how his mean behaviour has affected those around him.

At the end of the story he is relieved to discover that there is still time for him to change and we see him transformed into a generous and kind-hearted human being.

Evening performances at Knebworth Village Hall in Park Lane are at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £8, and concessions £7.

Tickets are available in person from Village News in Station Road, Knebworth, by calling 07958 130132, or emailing
