Deck the halls with glitterballs… the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special returns on December 25 to light up a magical Christmas Day, as six celebrities take part in a festive edition of the nation’s much-loved show. Here’s a sneak picture preview of the programme.

Sir Bruce Forsyth returns to the ballroom alongside Tess Daly as the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special features six of the most memorable contestants from years past.

This year the ladies tripping the light fantastic, just in time for Christmas, are singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, actress Lisa Riley and S Club 7’s Rachel Stevens.

The gentlemen set to do battle alongside them are Olympic gymnast and former Strictly champion Louis Smith, TV presenter Chris Hollins and astrologer Russell Grant.

This year’s Christmas show will have a special pantomime theme, with all of the stars taking on iconic roles from some of the UK’s favourite pantos.

Judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood will also be joining in the festive fun, dishing out some Christmas cheer and scores.

Professional dancers Aljaž Skorjanec, Robin Windsor and Tristan MacManus will partner the female celebrities, and Aliona Vilani, Iveta Lukosiute and Joanne Clifton will join forces with the male celebrities.

The pairings are as follows:

Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Aljaž Skorjanec

Lisa Riley and Robin Windsor

Rachel Stevens and Tristan MacManus

Louis Smith and Aliona Vilani

Chris Hollins and Iveta Lukosiute

Russell Grant and Joanne Clifton

All six couples will perform a pantomime-inspired Yuletide routine in a bid to be crowned 2014 Christmas champions and lift the famous silver star trophy.
