The patron of a Hertfordshire theatre is going into the jungle in the latest series of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
Former ‘Allo ‘Allo star Vicki Michelle, who is a patron of the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage, will be facing Bushtucker Trials on the latest series of the Ant and Dec hosted ITV reality show.
Vicki is known worldwide as the saucy waitress Yvette Carte-Blanche from the award-winning BBC sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo, but more recently appeared in Giant Cherry’s production of Hello Norma Jeane, playing to sell-out houses.
Also known for her work in Doctors and Emmerdale, she was awarded an MBE in 2010 for her services to charity.
A spokesman for the Gordon Craig said: “Since 1998, we have had the pleasure of Vicki Michelle as our patron.
“Vicki has a very strong presence here at the theatre and often attends the first night of our In House Productions.
“Vicki Michelle is also the patron of our Friends Membership, these members have the exciting opportunity to attend the first night parties of our In House Productions; this is great way for our friend’s members to meet Vicki Michelle and the stars of our shows.
“All of the staff wish her the best of luck. Let’s hope she won’t get any scary bush tucker trials!”
On the jungle challenge, Vicki, 63, wants to teach younger ladies a thing or two.
She said: “I want to do this challenge for the older women. Don’t write us off.”
And she’s looking to losing weight in the jungle. She said: “Rice and beans is going to be boring and it’s rubbish food but the great thing is I am getting paid to lose weight.
“Going in the jungle is a great Christmas diet!”
Of her phobias, she added: “I am scared of all those things like spiders and snakes.
“But my daughter is scared of spiders and I have always said that I must be braver than her. I do think you are a braver person as you get older.
“Having said that, it’s going to be a challenge. Having them all over you will be a different ball game.
“They are, however, only creatures and I need to get that into my head.”
As for winning I’m A Celebrity, she added: “I’d be the Queen Vic. Can you imagine if I did? It would be fabulous.”
Also entering the jungle are rapper Tinchy Stryder, news reporter Michael Buerk, TV presenter and model Melanie Sykes, former Hull and Ipswich Town footballer Jimmy Bullard and model and singer Nadia Forde.
Coronation Street actor and Red Dwarf star Craig Charles is swapping the cobbles for the Australian campsite, while superbike champion Carl Fogarty trades the thrills of the track for the spills of the jungle.
Others set to appear include Towie’s Gemma Collins and Kendra Wilkinson.
