A WELWYN Garden City author who has published his first book says he plans to release another two by the end of the year.
Paul Sorrell, who writes under the pen name P.C. Sorrell, self published his debut novel Liberty Within, the first instalment of a trilogy.
The 31-year-old, of Eddington Crescent, describes his book as “an adventure fantasy with a love story thrown in for good measure, set against a backdrop of an unholy war set through time between a set of immortals, known as grim reapers, and their holy counterparts”.
After developing the story for six or so years, Mr Sorrell finally started putting thoughts into words three years ago and the finished novel was available on Amazon for download at the end of March.
Mr Sorrell, who is the franchise manager of an accountancy firm, said of the writing process: “There was an element of now or never.
“I just said to myself ‘if you are going to do it, then let’s do it’.
“I had been thinking about the plot for five or six years and it got to a stage where I had gotten so far with the idea it was time to put it into practice.
“I wrote the first one in 2010 and it really just naturally led on to the second and third books.”
He says his first book has received quite a lot of interest from readers in America and is now working on books two and three – Liberty Awakened and Liberty Forever – and hopes these will be online by the end of the year.
He will then weave the three stories into one so he can approach a publisher.
Mr Sorrell said he had always aspired to be a writer but the biggest achievement he has felt so far was writing ‘the end’ upon completition of the trilogy.
He said: “It was typing the words ‘The End’ at the end of all three because they had been in my head for so long – there was a real sense of achievement as well as relief.”
n Liberty Within is available to buy now on Amazon.
