In a first for Herts Jazz, one of the club's concerts in Welwyn Garden City will be recorded by BBC Radio 3.
The national radio station will record Andrew Bain’s Project at Herts Jazz Club on Sunday, November 6.
Andrew Bain is one of the premier drummer/composers in the UK.
He is embarking on his first nationwide tour with UK heavyweight pianist George Colligan, Thelonious Monk Competition winner Jon Irabagon on saxophone and Michael Janisch on the bass.
This trans-Atlantic project will aim to capture the excitement and energy of New York City, where all have lived.
Especially exciting is the fact that both George and Jon have not toured the UK jazz circuit in any large capacity.
A Herts Jazz spokesman said: “This gig is being recorded by the BBC Radio 3 Jazz Now programme, to be broadcast on December 12.
“This will be the first-ever arts event broadcast from Welwyn Garden City and a first for Herts Jazz.”
The concert in Screen 2 of the Hawthorne Theatre/Garden City Cinema complex at The Campus, WGC, starts at 8pm.
Advance tickets cost £11 full, £10 concessions, £8 members and £3 students.
Walk-ups are £13 full, £12 concessions, £9 members and £5 students.
