The Welwyn Garden City Film Society’s 69th season opens tonight (Friday) at the Hawthorne Theatre complex at Campus West.

The first movie of the 2014-2015 season is Marius.

Starring and directed by famous French actor Daniel Auteuil, it is the tantalising love story of a wannabe sailor and a sprightly salesgirl.

All 12 shows in the society’s new season can be seen at the Hawthorne Theatre, Campus West, for a membership fee of just £36 (students £18). There is nothing else to pay.

Non-members may attend any screening as guests for £5. All shows are on Fridays, and start at 7.45pm.

For information about joining the society, call the membership secretary Anna Gladstone on 01727 842215, visit the society’s website at www.wgcfs.org.uk, or just pop along to any show.

The season continues on Friday, September 19 with Shun Li and the Poet.
