WEEZER top the list of the four latest additions to the Sonisphere Festival line-up at Knebworth Park this summer.
The Californian alt-rock superstars will make their Knebworth debut at Sonisphere in July.
Famous for infectious power-pop classics Buddy Holly, Beverly Hills and Hash Pipe, this will be the American four-piece’s only English festival appearance of 2011 after going down a storm at last year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.
They delighted fans with a set including covers of Lady GaGa’s Poker Face and Wheatus hit Teenage Dirtbag.
On the band’s official Twitter page, Weezer – lead singer and guitarist Rivers Cuomo, guitarist Brian Bell, bassist Scott Shriner and drummer Patrick Wilson – self-confirmed they will be playing Knebworth on the Saturday.
Also confirmed on Monday for the three-day hard rock event in the grounds of Knebworth Park were raucous Australian rockers Airbourne, Brighton metalcore band Architects and heavy metal pioneers Diamond Head, who will appear on the Friday night in support of thrash’s Big 4 of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.
Sonisphere takes place at Knebworth House from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10 and tickets are available from the festival’s website, see link above.
