TIME is running out for music fans to buy 2011 Sonisphere Festival tickets for Knebworth before the VAT increase comes into effect next year.
The touring rock and metal event returns to the grounds of Knebworth House from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10.
VAT rises from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent on Tuesday, January 4 and festival-goes will face a price hike of around £10 for a pair of four-day weekend family camping passes.
A statement on the festival’s website says: “As we countdown the last days of 2010, Team Sonisphere would like to remind everyone that ticket prices will increase from January 4 due to the VAT rise.
“To be sure of getting the pre-VAT increase price you should buy your ticket before midnight on January 3.
“If you buy a ticket under the deposit scheme before this time you will pay the pre-increase price for the ticket.
“Any deposits placed after this time will still be an initial payment of £50 but the balance due will be for the higher ticket price.”
Masked American metallers Slipknot, Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro and thrash metal’s Big 4 – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax – are the only acts confirmed so far for the UK leg of Sonisphere at Knebworth Park.
More than 100 bands, comedians and parties are still to be announced for the international touring festival.
Iron Maiden, who headlined the closing night at Knebworth this year, will play Sonispheres in Poland, Spain and Switzerland next summer.
Metallica and Slipknot have been confirmed for the new French festival at Amneville over the same July weekend as Knebworth.
