The annual rock, pop and indie festival will take place over the weekend of Saturday, August 22 to Sunday, August 23 at Hylands Park, near Chelmsford, Essex, and its sister site at Weston Park, in Staffordshire.

Promoters of the Virgin Media backed music extravaganza are planning to mark the festival’s 20th birthday in style.

No headliners have been confirmed yet, with V Festival’s official Facebook page listing its ‘members’ as “2015 line-up in the making”.

The festival’s official Twitter account @vfestival tweeted on January 1: “Celebrate the 20th #VFestival in #2015 for a guaranteed #HappyNewYear x”

A similar message was posted as a status update on the festival’s Facebook page on New Year’s Day.

V2014 was headlined by The Killers and Justin Timberlake, with Elbow, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Lily Allen, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Rudimental, the Kaiser Chiefs and Paolo Nutini also on the bill.

The first V Festival line-up announcement is usually made after the annual BRIT Awards ceremony.

* The BRIT Awards 2015 will be held at The O2 in London on Wednesday, February 25, and will be broadcast on ITV, with live performances from Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.
