V Festival 2012 headline pulls out due to illness
ONE of the headliners of this weekend’s 2012 V Festival has pulled out due to illness.
The annual music festival opened earlier today (Saturday), with The Stone Roses headlining the main stage at Hylands Park, near Chelmsford, this evening, while The Killers play the other leg in Weston Park, Staffordshire.
However, due to on-going vocal issues, colourful American rapper Nicki Minaj is unable to play this year’s V Festival, sponsored by Virgin Media.
According to V organisers, Miss Minaj’s band and crew all arrived in the UK ahead of the performance at the festival this weekend, however as the artist herself boarded her flight from New York on Friday, she felt unwell again.
This is despite having thought she had overcome her vocal chord issues from earlier in the week.
A statement from V said: “Having revisited her doctor, she has now been advised to rest for a week, which unfortunately means that she is no longer able to perform at V Festival.”
LMFAO will now be headlining the 4Music stage at 9.40pm on Saturday in Weston Park, Stafford, and on Sunday in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, proceeded with an additional live performance from DJ Fresh with a stage time of 8.20pm.
