FITTINGLY playing Standon Calling 2012’s Folk Stage this year are all-girl Hertfordshire acoustic popsters The Folk.
Fresh from their appearance at last month’s Rhythms of the World festival in Hitchin, the girls – teenagers Rose Goodship, Lucy Holmes and Lauren Deakin Davies – will be playing in the tent at 4pm on Friday.
The Folk then head over to Hertford on Sunday to play the main stage at the county town’s Rock at the Castle gig at 5.45pm.
Curating Standon Calling’s Folk Stage are Two For Joy and Owlsworld.
Highlights include the sensational Willy Mason, country rock outfit The Barker Band, brilliant banjo music from This Is The Kit, emerging folk man Brendan Rogers, Ceilidh hoe down collective Cut A Shine, Beans on Toast and singer-songwriter Jenny O.
The rest of the line-up includes Downtown Wolves, Standon veterans The Fabulous Penetrators, Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrel, Suburban Dirts, Annie Dale, Keltrix, Delirium Tremens, The Ramshackle Union Band, Urusen, Tiffany & The Curls, Monster Ceilidh Band, Scarlet In The Wilderness, Beatrix Players, Vardo & The Boss, Interiors and Evi Vine.
