Fresh from being played on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show, a hotly-tipped Reading rock quartet will be playing live in St Albans next week.

The Amazons are returning to The Horn on Thursday, December 1.

After previously playing a sold-out show at the Victoria Street venue back in February, the band are back next week with a support slot with Jimmy Eat World and a coveted Q Award nomination for Best Breakthrough Act under their belts.

Signed to the legendary Fiction Records, The Amazons have been described as “one of the most exciting outfits on the live circuit” by Drowned In Sound.

Their recent single In My Mind was produced by Catherine Marks, of Wolf Alice, Foals and The Vaccines fame.

It captures The Amazons’ ability to blend a fiery cocktail of aggressive stop-start dynamics with an anthemic hook and frontman Matt Thomson’s powerfully controlled vocal delivery.

New single Little Something was released earlier this week and it was named BBC Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record’ in the world.

The band tweeted on Monday: “Very excited that our new single is @AnnieMac’s hottest record tonight. Tune into @BBCR1 from 7pm!”

Tickets for the group’s St Albans gig cost £6 in advance and £8 on the door.
