THE headliners for the 2011 Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth will be announced on Monday.
The three-day rock and metal event will return to the grounds of Knebworth House from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10.
On Twitter earlier today (Wednesday), Sonisphere tweeted: “Was that a Sonisphere announcement on its way? 6th December? Get in!”
Metallica and Linkin Park headlined the inaugural Sonisphere at the legendary rock venue in 2009 and Alice Cooper, Rammstein and Iron Maiden topped the bill earlier this year.
Who is headlining the UK leg of the European touring festival in 2011 is still a closely guarded secret.
However, Team Sonisphere has given the Welwyn Hatfield Times an exclusive peak at next summer’s line-up so far and metal fans will definitely not be disappointed.
Rival festival Download confirmed on Monday a reformed System of a Down as their first headliner for next year, along with Avenged Sevenfold, but Sonisphere’s first big announcement will more than match that.
The Welwyn Hatfield Times understands the three headliners – who we cannot reveal yet – will be confirmed on Monday night, most likely by BBC Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter.
