“However to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the festival we have decided to do something we haven’t done before!....

“We’re pleased to announce the addition of one of the original artists that inspired the whole ska punk movement.

“We can reveal The Beat will be joining the party the bring some old school skanking to the stage and show the younger generation how they did it in the 80s!”

Ranking Roger said: “The Beat are honoured to be a part of this year’s Slam Dunk festival, and considering that this is their 10th year, I know that it’s going to be special. I expect a lot of dancing and skanking.”

Also added to open up the stage is The JB Conspiracy.

The Slam Dunk statement said: “The band played the festival back in 2008, so we thought it was about time to bring them back!”

The stage will also feature sets from Spunge, Catch Twenty-Two, King Prawn, Capdown, Zebrahead and The King Blues.

Slam Dunk North will take place in Leeds city centre on Saturday, May 28.

Slam Dunk Midlands arrives at The NEC in Birmingham the following day, with the tour finishing in Hatfield on May 30.

Tickets for each date cost £42.
