The first Slam Dunk Festival 2015 line-up announcement is due in the new year.
Organisers of next year’s festival are expected to reveal the music event’s headliners soon, with Slam Dunk 2015 set to be “bigger and better than ever before”.
Dates for Slam Dunk North, South and Midlands have already been confirmed for the late May Bank Holiday weekend.
The award-winning pop-punk, rock, hardcore and metalcore festival will return to Hatfield on Sunday, May 24, 2015, a day after the opening Leeds leg of the touring festival, and 24 hours before the closing Wolverhampton show.
Slam Dunk South at The Forum Hertfordshire, on the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus, will feature more than 50 artists across seven indoor and outdoor stages.
Previously headlined by Taking Back Sunday, All Time Low and 2014 bill-toppers The All-American Rejects, promoters are expected to reveal the first bands playing Slam Dunk 2015 in the next month.
Tickets will also go on general sale early in 2015, after early-bird passes went on sale before Christmas.
May’s festival will be “bigger” than previous events in Hatfield and Leeds.
Slam Dunk’s official website states: “Coming to you live from Hatfield University, #SDF15 sees the site become bigger and better than ever before, taking over the whole university grounds for the day to bring you the best there is to offer in pop-punk, ska, punk and hardcore.
“The festival boasts over 50 national and international artists across seven stages – both indoor and out.”
The website adds: “With resident and guest DJs performing throughout the day alongside the bands, exclusive signings from your favourite acts, an on-site after party, and probably a fair dose of mischief, Slam Dunk Festival 2015 is not to be missed!”
Meanwhile, Slam Dunk North, on Saturday, May 23, will move to Millennium Square in Leeds city centre.
Explaining the switch, the festival’s website says: “2015 sees the Slam Dunk North site change dramatically.
“We have moved from our home of the past eight years at Leeds University to bring you a festival bigger and better than ever before.
“Incorporating Millennium Square, O2 Academy and Leeds Beckett University, as well road closures around this area to allow for outdoors stages – this will be the most ambitious Slam Dunk yet.”
A status update on the festival’s official Facebook page before Christmas added: “It’s so awesome to see so many of you knowing the significance of us heading back to Millennium Square, #SDF15 really is going to be the biggest event we have done this far and it feels great to be heading back there.”
Slam Dunk Midlands will return to Wolverhampton Civic on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25, taking place at Wulfrun Hall, in the Civic Hall and outdoor stages.
Doors for all three dates will be open from 1pm.
Bands will play on the main stages until 11pm, with after parties finishing at 3am.
Groups will play all three dates.
All three events are 14 plus for the festival, and 18 plus for the after party.
