VOLUNTEERS collected a mammoth six tonnes of used drinks cans and bottles over the course of the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth Park.

Dozens gave up their time free of charge to help Coca-Cola Enterprises and vinspired encourage festival-goers to recycle.

Over the course of the three-day event, 1,682 revellers swapped 23,800 used bottles for more than 2,000 items of Coca-Cola swag, including T-shirts, caps, ponchos, lanyards and torches.

Coca-Cola Enterprises recycling director Patrick McGuirk said: “Over the summer we’ve been working at various festivals and events.

“Coca-Cola Enterprises is committed to making recycling easier and fun.”
