Simon Spillett will play Herts Jazz Club in Welwyn Garden City


Sax giant Simon Spillett makes a swift return to Welwyn Garden City this evening following his appearance at the 2015 Herts Jazz Festival with the Big Band Britannia.

He will be appearing with his quartet this time at Herts Jazz Club, in Screen 2 of the Garden City Cinema complex, tonight (Sunday).

Simon has won several awards for his music, including the tenor saxophone category of the British Jazz Awards, Jazz Journal magazine’s Critic’s Choice CD of the Year, and Rising Star in the BBC Jazz Awards.

Other celebrated jazz leaders and bands with whom he has worked include Sir John Dankworth, Stan Tracey, Peter King and The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra.

He has also recorded three albums, Introducing Simon Spillett (2007), Sienna Red (2008) and Square One (2013), all of which have received favourable reviews in both the specialist and national press.

Joining Simon at the Campus West concert will be Brian Dee on piano, Dave Green on bass and Clark Tracey on drums.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.
