Rhythms of the World 2012 festival start delayed by rain

BAD weather has forced the start of music festival Rhythms of the World 2012 to be delayed.
The two-day world music extravaganza was due to kick off at noon today (Saturday) in the grounds of Hitchin Priory.
However, rain has caused problems setting up the festival site, forcing organisers to push back the music start time by over an hour.
Organisers are keen to stress the Hertfordshire festival will still go ahead this weekend and has not been cancelled.
Keeping music-lovers informed via Twitter, the festival tweeted: “Latest update. Performances will start no later than 2pm. Please bear with us, it will be worth the wait”
An earlier update on the ROTW Facebook page said: “Due to the weather, the music will not be starting until 1pm as we are behind schedule (everything taking much longer).
“The festival is still on but music delayed. Please keep checking Facebook and Twiter for updates. Thanks for your understanding.”
Festival-goers are also being warned to expect mud – and plenty of it.
Another Rhythms of the World Facebook posting today says: “Make sure you wear wellies or sensible shoes/boots as it’s quite muddy.
“At the moment acts from 1pm onwards will still play their allocated time. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the first acts this morning, which was unavoidable.”
BBC Introducing, who have a stage at ROTW, tweeted this morning: “We think @rotwfestival is going to be very wet, very muddy but very cool this year! We want to see pics of the best #rotw2012 wellies!”
