Parklife star Phil Daniels has been added to the Cool Britannia Festival at Knebworth Park.
The Quadrophenia actor and former EastEnders favourite has been added to the cast of guest vocalists performing Britpop Classical at this summer’s Cool Britannia Festival.
Celebrating the 1990s Britpop era, the new Knebworth music festival will take over the grounds of the Hertfordshire stately home from Friday, August 31 to Sunday, September 2.
The main stage will be headlined by Happy Mondays and Ocean Colour Scene over the weekend, with supporting acts including Embrace, Cast, Feeder and Razorlight.
The premiere of Britpop Classical will be the opening act on Saturday, September 1.
Britpop Classical features a full rock band of some of the country’s best session musicians together with an amazing horns section and orchestra, all backing an array of vocalists.
Joining the line-up is the unique Phil Daniels, who will close the Britpop Classical set with Blur hit Parklife, the 1994 top five single he also appeared on.
Britpop Classical will also include The Farm’s Peter Hooton performing All Together Now, Saffron from Republica singing Ready To Go, and Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory covering Pulp classic Common People.
Cool Britannia Festival will also host the unique ‘Dr Haze’s Freak Show - Featuring Acts From The Infamous Circus of Horrors’.
Audiences can get their chills and thrills from an array of acts, including sword swallowers, contortionist, acrobats, knife throwers, a strong man and many more.
As well as headliners Happy Monday and OCS, Cool Britannia’s main stage will feature sets from The Lightning Seeds, Peter Hook & The Light, Heather Small, Dodgy, Space, Toploader and The South.
Cool Britannia organisers have also teamed up with the legendary Ministry of Sound dance brand.
Housed in the Big Top, Ministry of Sound will feature some of the best club DJs of the era, including Todd Terry, Brandon Block and Jazzie B.
Each night there will be appearances by a host of club classic stars with Black Box, N-Trance, Rozalla, Alison Limerick, Angie Brown and Urban Cookie Collective all due to appear.
Outside the rocking arena, Cool Britannia will be tending to the needs of rock and dance music fans with camping, glamping, street food, themed bars, street entertainers, funfairs, a kid-zone, fireworks, trade stands, karaoke and much more.
