Patti Smith show at Alban Arena in St Albans

LEGENDARY songwriter, musician, poet and mother of punk Patti Smith will be appearing live in St Albans next weekend.
The Because The Night singer is set for a show at the Alban Arena on Saturday.
Listed among Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, as well as one of Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Artists, Patti is a writer, artist and performer.
She was part of the highly influential New York City movement that went on to influence punk, with her 1975 debut album Horses.
Her best known single is her version of Bruce Springsteen track Because The Night.
A resident of New York, she has recorded 10 albums and written five books, and her artwork has been exhibited worldwide. In 2005 she received the Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Ministry of Culture.
Patti won the National Book Award in 2010 for her memoir Just Kids, in part about her relationship with the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.
Joining her on stage at the Arena will be band member Tony Shanahan, for An Evening of Words and Music. The show starts at 8pm.
