A POPULAR festival returns to a village pub over the August Bank Holiday weekend in aid of a Welwyn Garden City-based charity.
The Goatfest Live Music Festival takes place at The Goat Inn, in Codicote, on Saturday and Sunday.
And the event promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
The two-day festival has been organised by Ace of Herts Entertainment’s Rowan Patel.
There will be bands playing from just after noon to midnight on both days, with proceeds going to the Isabel Hospice, in WGC.
Tickets for Saturday are selling fast and entry for the event is £5 per day, or just £7 for the whole weekend, with under-13s admitted for free.
Rowan said: “I came up with the idea five years ago now of wanting to put on an event in order to help raise money for the Isabel Hospice.
“Goatfest has now raised over £10,000 and we hope to add to that total again this year.
“The event has come on leaps and bounds as it is becoming more and more popular every year.
“This year we have been included in Hertfordshire Life magazine’s top 50 events and attractions of 2013.
“The event continues to go from strength to strength and this was demonstrated last year when we moved from our simple lorry trailer stage to a fully structured show stage, as well as bringing in the very latest sound and lighting equipment. A set-up that we will have again thanks to our loyal support from our main event sponsors Runwood Homes and Osprey London.”
The fun-packed weekend at The Goat will consist of 20 live acts performing on stage over the two days, with Saturday’s headliners confirmed as Dirty DC, one of the best AC/DC tribute bands around.
Sunday’s line-up will finish with the amazing Soul Funk Secret, a professional show band covering the classics from the Motown, soul and disco eras.
The rest of the line-up will feature everything from local covers and originals bands to singer-songwriters and even a choir.
On top of that, there will be food stalls, face painting, competitions and Goatfest merchandise for sale.
Rowan added: “So basically there will be something for everyone.
“Personally, I get a huge amount of satisfaction organising the whole event and it’s great to see the support that it gets from the community who come out and have a great time.
“This year’s event is going to be massive and I can’t wait to get it started.”
Tickets are available from The Goat Inn, in High Street, Codicote.
