The Village Green will become a hub of fun at Kimpton Folk Festival this weekend.
The second Kimpton Folk Festival will take place in the Hertfordshire village on Saturday, July 1.
And Kimpton’s historic Village Green will be the beating heart of its forthcoming folk festival.
It will host games, dancing, choirs and a free concert.
The family-friendly festival, showcasing the cream of UK folk talent in five ticketed shows on two stages in the Memorial Hall and the 13th century church, also presents a free all-day concert on the green with main guest appearances as well as local artists and choirs from around Hertfordshire.
On the nearby Garden Fields will be a range of children’s activities including games, face painting, weaving workshops, and storytelling for young and old.
The Village Green will also host a wide range of street food options for most people’s tastes and a real ale bar by Farr Brew, who are also running a separate bar at the Main Stage in Kimpton Memorial Hall.
Festival chairman Doug Jenner said: “The Village Green will be a hub of activity all day.
“It will be a place where people can sit, eat, relax, enjoy food and drink with friends and family and enjoy some of the finest music this country can offer.
“And we’re also delighted to be welcoming top local dance band Fiddlebridge, who will run a ceilidh at the end of the afternoon.”
Doug added: “For folkies, there will be continuous session in the pub, New Moon Morris and Ramrugge dance sides and expert workshops in songwriting, fiddle and guitar by Liz Simcock,Charlotte & Laura Carrivick and Ciaran Algar.
“And new this year are ‘busk stops’ giving truly outstanding young musicians the chance to shine and earn a little extra cash.”
All day tickets for the festival have sold out, but there are still afternoon tickets, for admission to all events except the third Memorial Hall concert, and individual concert tickets available.
