Somebody Else’s Guy singer Jocelyn Brown arrives in St Albans this weekend with some of her friends for a special concert.

Jocelyn and her amazing band will perform a soul-shaking show at The Alban Arena on Saturday, September 24.

Reggae act Aswad will also be delivering their all hits, including UK chart-topper Don’t Turn Around.

Opening the evening is the amazing lead singer from Heatwave, Donovan Blackwood, who has shared the stage with Earth, Wind & Fire and Lionel Richie.

Love’s Gonna Get You star Jocelyn Brown is a versatile singer with a powerful and passionate voice.

Appearing initially as a soloist in church with various Brooklyn gospel choirs, she made the crossover into disco music early, going on to perform with bands including Inner Life and Salsoul Orchestra.

Jocelyn’s recording career defines itself, having worked with many of the best soul, rare groove and disco producers, artists and musicians of all time, a list that includes Quincy Jones, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Cerrone, Roberta Flack and Janis Joplin.

Her unaccredited vocal hook of “I’ve got the power” for Snap!’s chart-topping smash The Power is just one example of Jocelyn’s voice being sampled across the genres.

After 15 albums and two decades on the music scene, Aswad remains one of Britain’s best loved reggae bands.

Originally led by the trio of Brinsley ‘Dan’ Forde on vocals and rhythm guitar, Angus ‘Drummie Zeb’ Gaye on vocals and drums, and Tony ‘Gad’ Robinson on bass, they are known among reggae fans for their rich melodies and compelling harmonies, woven over hard rhythm tracks and inspired horn riffs.

Tickets for this amazing party night cost £26.50 seated and £25 standing.

The concert starts at 7.30pm.
