Jazz Samba comes to Screen 2 of the Garden City Cinema / Hawthorne Theatre complex on Sunday night.

Featuring leading saxophonist Mark Crooks and much in-demand pianist Rob Barron, Jazz Samba spotlights Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd’s groundbreaking 1962 recording, the first-ever fully fledged bossa nova album recorded by American jazz musicians.

A commercial success, it topped the LP charts on its release and produced its own pop hit single, Desafinado.

As well as Mark Crooks on tenor and pianist Rob Barron, Arnie Somogyi will be on bass and Steve Brown on drums.

The February 25 gig at the CW Entertainment venue in The Campus, WGC, starts at 7.30pm.

Advance tickets cost £5 students, £10 members, £12 concessions and £13 full.

They are £7 students, £11 members, £14 concessions and £15 full on the night.
