Idris Elba, KT Tunstall and Editors join Standon Calling 2017 line-up

Luther star Idris Elba, Editors and KT Tunstall are among the latest acts added to the line-up of Hertfordshire music festival Standon Calling 2017.
Award-winning Hollywood actor Idris Elba, who appeared in Star Trek Beyond and Avengers: Age of Ultron, has joined the Standon Calling roster.
He will deliver a DJ set at Standon Lordship in July after organisers today (Tuesday) added a raft of new names to the festival’s 2017 line-up.
Elba was one of the DJs that appeared at house and techno extravaganza Eastern Electrics in the grounds of Hatfield House last summer, and he will perform a set that spans genres, styles and generations as he dives right into his vast record collection for a Standon moment that will be talked about for years to come.
Among the latest Standon Calling additions are acclaimed indie-kings Editors and English poet, spoken-word artist and playwright Kate Tempest.
Editors will bring their dark-edged post-punk anthems, including Munich, Blood, All Sparks, Papillon and Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors, to the fields of Standon this summer.
Expect the distinctive vocal moods of frontman Tom Smith to soundtrack an unmistakable festival moment.
Delivering poetic and straight-to-the-bone tales of personal struggle and modern day society, Kate Tempest released album Let Them Eat Chaos last year.
Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall is also set to bring her infectious folk blues and vintage indie rock sound to the festival, which takes place in the Hertfordshire countryside from Thursday, July 27 to Sunday July 30.
The Scottish singer released her fifth studio album, KIN, last year but is still best known for her 2004 debut Eye to the Telescope, which included hit singles Black Horse and the Cherry Tree and Suddenly I See.
Others added to the Standon Calling bill include Sheffield folk-pop favourites Slow Club, modern disco-spinner Lindstrøm, and comedian, actor and rapper Doc Brown.
South London cutters Horse Meat Disco will bring their own blend of modern dance to the festival’s hub of late-night euphoria – The Cowshed.
Tropical electro-pop trio Strong Asian Mothers, Libertines’ very own John Hassall and The April Rainers, Wakefield four-piece Skinny Living and London’s Peluche will also pitch up at Standon.
They join previously announced main stage headliners Orbital and Clean Bandit at the family orientated festival.
Also on the 2017 Standon poster are Slaves, Laura Mvula, Gary Numan, Nothing But Thieves, Steve Mason, !!! (CHK CHK CHK), British Sea Power, Nadia Rose, Dutch Uncles, Fickle Friends, Cabbage, Akala and many more.
A very special Sunday night headliner is due to be announced next week.
Organisers last week revealed the event’s unrivalled family programme headlined by Horrible Histories - The Best of Barmy Britain live on the main stage.
