YOUNG musicians will be given the chance to shine at two concerts being held in Hatfield this week.

UHArts’ continued relationship with Hertfordshire Music Service will see a wealth of local talent perform at The Weston Auditorium.

On Friday, Hertfordshire Schools’ Symphony Orchestra presents a celebration of modern composers, under conductor Rufus Frowde.

In Britten’s centenary year, the orchestra will celebrate his life through Arvo Part’s Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten.

Hertfordshire County Youth Orchestra returns to The Weston Auditorium, on the University of Hertfordshire’s De Havilland campus, on Saturday with Walton’s emotive and energetic first symphony.

The orchestra, conducted by Peter Stark, has gained a reputation as one of the best youth orchestras in the country.

Tickets for both concerts are priced at £18 full, £12 concessions and £6 children.
