Thousands of music lovers are set to flock to a hugely popular festival in Codicote when it returns for its 10th year this summer.
Goatfest, which started out as a free, local event, has evolved into a three-day festival that showcases some of the biggest names and raises money for charity at the same time.
Taking place on land off Bury Lane, this year’s event will be between Friday, August 24 and Sunday, August 26.
Headlining will be the legendary Grandmaster Flash, the pioneering hip hop star and DJ best known for 1982 hit song The Message.
Live/Wire with their AC/DC show, The Showhawk Duo and Spirit in the Sky chart-toppers Doctor and the Medics will also be appearing.
Also taking to the stage will be Rothwell, Orla Gartland, Roadrunner, Bang Bang Romeo, Allergy, The Wholls, Joseph Jones, Mojo Rising, Viana Bay and the Codicote Community Choir.
One of the organisers, Hannah Patel, said: “It’s been quite a journey – we’ve raised over £20k for Isabel Hospice over the years, and for the last three years we have also been supporting Willow Foundation.
“My husband started the event and ran it on his own, aside from his full-time job.
“And now we work with a small group of volunteers as a team – putting on a professional event, whilst holding down full-time jobs.”
She said that a ton of street food will also be on offer, adding: “I’d say our catering options beat what’s available at most large events as it’s all fresh and local.”
Hannah added: “We’re expecting between 3,000 and 5,000 people this year.
“Our focus is on profiling the best in national and international live music of all genres – from acoustic to big bands and DJs.”
Hannah said the aim is to offer a festival option for people that tops alternatives in terms of sound quality and headline bands, but is also accessible.
Children aged 12 and under are welcome in the VIP area providing they are with an adult who has a valid VIP ticket. Teens aged between 13 and 17 must purchase a VIP weekend ticket for access to this area.
Camping passes must be purchased separately to festival admission tickets.
