Gilad Atzmon and The Orient House Ensemble return to Herts Jazz

One of the greatest sax players around will be performing on stage in Welwyn Garden City this evening (Sunday).
Gilad Atzmon and The Orient House Ensemble are scheduled to appear at Herts Jazz Club tonight.
A club spokesman said: “It’s a welcome return to Herts Jazz for the Orient House Ensemble who played one of the highlight gigs of 2013.”
Gilad has been described by Robert Wyatt in The Guardian as the best musician in the world today.
Atzmon and The Orient House Ensemble, renowned for their unique mix of jazz, folk and Arabic music, are celebrating the release of their eighth album, The Whistle Blower.
The musicians have been touring for nearly 15 years, gaining a reputation as one of European jazz’s pre-eminent bands.
A Herts Jazz spokesman added: “You can listen to The Orient House Ensemble’s award-winning albums, but seeing the band live is an experience not to be missed.”
Joining Gilad in Welwyn Garden City will be Frank Harrison on piano, Yaron Stavi on bass and Chris Higginbottom on drums.
The concert in Screen 2 of the Hawthorne Theatre complex at Campus West starts at 7.30pm.
Advance tickets cost £3 students, £8 members, £10 concessions and £11 full. Walk-ups are £5 students, £9 members, £12 concessions and £13 full.
