Friends Music returns to its regular home in Welwyn Garden City this evening (Sunday) for its February concert.

Back at Friends Meeting House, in Handside Lane, today’s concert will feature professional opera singer James Gower, with accompanist Helen Shabetai.

But there’s a twist to their return. In keeping with the venue’s policy of promoting young people playing music to a high standard, James’ daughter Alina and Helen’s daughters Rachael and Miriam will be sharing the stage with their parents.

The talented youngsters, who perform in various chamber groups and orchestras, will be performing a selection of music for stringed instruments, including Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Pachelbel’s Canon, and other music by Brahms. Bach, Fauré and Saint Saëns, coupled with an excerpt from the very moving score of Schindler’s List.

Admission is free and the concert will be in aid of bursaries for the National Children’s Orchestra.

The concert starts at 6pm.
