The 2016 Folk by the Oak festival's final line-up set for Hatfield House this summer has been confirmed by organisers.
The all-day festival of folk’s finest acts will return to the leafy parkland of Hatfield House on Sunday, July 24.
And completing the music event’s main stage line-up are Scottish trio Lau.
FBTO promoters said: “We are delighted to welcome this remarkable trio of brilliant musicians and thrilling performers back to our main stage this summer.”
Since their debut album in 2007, Lau have picked up four awards for ‘Best Group’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and the individual members have all won multiple awards and recognition for their acclaimed solo works.
The band features Kris Drever (vocals, guitar), Martin Green (accordion, wurlitzer, keys, electronics) and Aidan O’Rourke (fiddle) and together they continue to effortlessly bridge the seemingly diametrically opposed worlds of acoustic folk tradition and electronica.
Released late last year, their most recent album, The Bell That Never Rang, has garnered fine reviews.
They join the likes of Afro Celt Sound System, Cara Dillon & Friends and False Lights on the Folk by the Oak main stage.
Also confirmed for the smaller Acorn Stage are Calan and Cardboard Fox.
Headlining the Acorn Stage at Hatfield House this summer will be five-piece Calan.
The group’s talented young musicians bring a contemporary and lively approach to traditional Welsh music, with sparkling melodies, foot-tapping tunes and spirited and energetic performances of Welsh step dancing.
With their unique instrumental blend of accordion, fiddle, guitar, Welsh pipes, Welsh harp and the percussive sound of the Welsh clogs, they blast their way through some of the old favourite reels, jigs and hornpipes with fast-paced and uplifting arrangements before melting into some of the most beautiful and haunting songs.
Also appearing on the Acorn Stage will be Cardboard Fox, an exciting new four-piece with their roots in bluegrass music.
