A band leader and top saxophonist will entertain jazz fans in Welwyn Garden City this weekend.

The Dave O’Higgins Quartet is due to play Herts Jazz Club, at the Hawthorne Theatre complex, on Sunday from 7.30pm.

Despite numerous jobs as a sideman, for Cleo Laine, Matthew Herbert, Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles, Dave has maintained his high stature as a band leader and composer for 30 years.

He also teaches saxophone, harmony and improvisation at the London Centre for Contemporary Music.

In his home city of London, Dave is a regular guest with the house band at Ronnie Scott’s Club.

Joining him at Herts Jazz will be Graham Harvey on piano, Geoff Gascoyne on bass and Sebastiaan DeKrom on drums.

Due to refurbishment work at Campus West, Herts Jazz gigs will be in a more intimate space this season with a smaller capacity, so early booking is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Tickets cost £3 in advance for students, £8 members, £10 concessions and £11 full.

Walk-ups are £5 students, £9 members, £11 concessions and £13 full.
