THE Rhythms of the World stage closed earlier today (Sunday) for health and safety reasons has finally opened.
Organisers of the two-day world music festival in Hitchin kept the Priory Park Stage shut earlier today because of the extremely muddy conditions.
The entrance to the grounds near Priory Park was also temporarily closed.
However, ROTW 2012 organisers have now reopened the gates and music is playing on the Priory stage.
The south gate entrance is open again for ticket holders, although festival-goers are advised to enter carefully “as it’s still a bit tricky”.
The festival team posted on Facebook their thanks to The Priory’s management for being so understanding.
A message said: “We want to send a massive thank you to Thierry and his team at Hitchin Priory for being so calm about the grounds.
“We have certainly had lots to deal with with the weather this year but we will have certainly left our mark this year!”
After Saturday’s heavy rainfall and mud, the weather has improved today.
The festival tweeted: “It’s nice and sunny, ground has hardened in places but still muddy, lots of families here”
