Chas and no Dave at Hertford Corn Exchange
PUBLISHED: 09:17 19 December 2011
ONE half of Chas & Dave will be appearing live at the Corn Exchange in Hertford tonight (Monday).
Chas Hodges will be performing at the Fore Street venue without his long-time sidekick Dave Peacock in a double header with Buster Shuffle.
Following the completion of the recent Chas & Dave reunion tour, Chas is back on the road solo and his show is really two concerts in one.
It features all the well known Chas & Dave hits, including Rabbit, Gertcha, Ain’t No Pleasing You, Sideboard Song, Margate, London Girls and Snooker Loopy in the second half of the set.
However, before the interval, pianist and bass player Chas now tells the musical story of his days before teaming up with Dave.
And it’s a musical journey many don’t know about.
It includes the time he spent with his mentor, rock ‘n’ roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, going on the road with Gene Vincent, entering the recording studios with Joe Meek and playing electric bass on John Leyton’s number one hit Johnny Remember Me.
Chas also toured with The Beatles in the 1960s as a member of Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers.
All this and much more will be revealed in the first half of the concert before moving on to his career alongside guitarist Dave.
Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost from £12.50.
