ONE of the world’s top brass bands will be marching into St Albans next weekend.

The award-winning Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band will be playing at the Alban Arena on Sunday at 4pm.

The band’s most recent achievements include qualifying to represent Yorkshire at the National Championships of Great Britain for four consecutive years between 2008 and 2011 and finishing third at the prestigious British Open Brass Band Championships 2011, only beaten by The Cory Band and Black Dyke.

The brass band has made more than 200 broadcasts on the BBC alone and has accompanied artists including Paul Robeson, Cleo Laine, Julian Lloyd Webber and Nigel Kennedy.

Tickets cost £15, concessions £2.50 off.
