TICKETS for next summer's Battle Proms concert at Hatfield House have gone on sale.
Dark evenings, cold mornings and the countdown to Christmas are the thoughts on most people’s minds at this time of year.
But it doesn’t mean you can’t dream of balmy summer days filled with Champagne, picnics and sublime classical music.
The 12th annual Hatfield House Battle Proms concert will take place on Saturday, July 21.
As well as the usual highlights, such as the Napoleonic cavalry, 200 live cannons, a Spitfire display, breathtaking fireworks and a singalong proms finale, the 2012 Battle Proms will include a Diamond Jubilee Gun Salute from a vintage QF field gun fired manually by a team of gunners in honour of the Queen.
Tickets for the entertainment in the grounds of Hatfield House are now available.
So if you’ve been racking your brains trying to think of a unique gift to give this Christmas, take advantage of the early online booking offer at www.battleproms.com and give someone a fabulous surprise and a wonderful concert to look forward to in the summer of 2012.
Ideal for couples, and with a pair of tickets currently under £60, including a free Christmas card from Combat Stress, it could be the solution to your gift-finding puzzle.
A spokeswoman for the organisers said: “Although it seems very early to be thinking about next summer, we have promoted early bird tickets for the last couple of years and they have proved very popular as a Christmas gift idea.”
Organisers are currently in the process of selecting the new additions to the musical programme for 2012.
But proms favourites such as Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture for Orchestra Op.49, Wellington’s Victory Battle Symphony or The Battle of Vittoria, Op. 91 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Sir Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 in D, Land of Hope and Glory will feature as always.
Adult tickets for Battle Proms at Hatfield House cost £29 if booked online before January 31, 2012, with the price going up to £30.50 if bought between February 1 and April 30.
Tickets cost £33 from May 1 until the day before the concert.
The price rises to £38 on the day of the concert, subject to availability.
A contribution of the concert’s profits, plus audience donations, will go to Combat Stress: the Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society, which specialises in helping Armed Forces veterans with psychological injuries caused through service to their country.
