Hundreds of residents flocked to the 53rd Kimpton May Festival to soak up the jovial bank holiday weekend atmosphere.

The four-day event saw visitors treated to an outdoor movie night on Friday, before a procession on Saturday through High Street to the recreation ground, where the May Queen was crowned in front of gleeful onlookers.

There were also several other attractions, including maypole dancing, tug-of-war, robot comedy and music from the Romford Drum and Trumpet Corps.

An art show was also available throughout the day, before the evening entertainment in the Memorial hall, which included music, songs, dancing and comedy.

Sunday then saw the return of the “pawpular” dog show, followed by Monday’s fun-run to round off the event.
