Movie fans can watch Dirty Dancing under the stars at Hatfield House this summer.

"People told me I must be bonkers for investing in an outdoor screen given the unreliability of our weather! "

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema

The Luna Cinema returns to the Hertfordshire stately home in August.

The largest UK open air cinema company will screen three films in the grounds of Hatfield House over successive nights, from Thursday, August 27 to Saturday, August 29, culminating with 80s coming-of-age drama Dirty Dancing (12).

The Oscar-winning Grand Budapest Hotel (15) will kick-off proceedings in Hatfield on Thursday, August 27.

Directed by Wes Anderson, the comedy film stars Ralph Fiennes as a concierge who teams up with one of his employees to prove his innocence after he is framed for murder.

Set in a famous hotel in the fictional Republic of Zubrowka between the first and second World Wars, the star-studded cast also includes F. Murray Abraham, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton and Owen Wilson.

The Goonies (U), starring Josh Brolin and Corey Feldman, is the offering at Hatfield House on Friday, August 28.

In order to save their home from closure, a group of misfits set out to find a pirate’s ancient treasure in this 1985 adventure comedy adapted from a Steven Spielberg story.

Nobody will be putting ‘Baby’ in the corner at Hatfield House on Saturday, August 29.

The Luna Cinema

* The Luna Cinema was founded in 2008 by George Wood with a showing at Dulwich Park.

* In 2015 it will bring 120 screenings to 46 outdoor locations around the UK, using two touring screens.

* Location capacity ranges from 300 to 3000, with a total of 160,000 tickets available.

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey will be having the time of their lives on the big screen when 1987 classic Dirty Dancing is the Luna Cinema’s feature film.

Spending the summer in a holiday camp with her family, Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman (Grey) falls in love with the resort’s dance instructor, Johnny Castle (Swayze).

Watch out for their final dance.

The Dirty Dancing soundtrack includes Oscar-winning (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, along with power ballad She’s Like the Wind by Patrick Swayze, Hungry Eyes by American singer Eric Carmen, and Big Girls Don’t Cry by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.

Tickets for all three Hatfield House screenings go on general sale today (Thursday) at 10am, following an exclusive 24-hour pre-sale for loyal Luna Cinema supporters and past audiences.

DoubleTree by Hilton will be Luna Cinema’s headline partner this season.

Ticket prices are £13.50 for adults and £9 for children. Premium tickets are £26.

A statement from organisers said: “This year our premium tickets not only offer you the chance to watch the film from the luxury of a Luna / DoubleTree by Hilton chair, in prime position in the arena, but also you’ll receive a drink at the bar, and a goody bag.

“We’ve also introduced a fast track bar for premium ticket holders so they can avoid the queue and replenish those glasses without missing a frame of their favourite film.”

Doors will open for all three Hatfield House screenings at 6.30pm, with the performance starting around 8pm, depending on the conditions on the night.
