Here’s a few suggestions of what’s on in the county over the Spring May bank holiday weekend.


This huge annual county event promises a fun-packed day out for all the family.

There will be farm attractions, family entertainment in the main arena, animal classes, and food and drink at the Herts County Showground in Redbourn on Saturday, May 26 to Sunday, May 27.

Don’t get the hump if you miss the annual camel racing at Northaw this Bank Holiday Monday, May 28.

The fun at the Northaw Point to Point Course near Potters Bar will be in aid of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

Willows Activity Farm’s annual Spring Special event kicks off on Saturday, with sheep shearing one of the attractions.

There will be all sorts of Peter Rabbit-themed fun for youngsters at the farm’s adventure playground and much more.

Music lovers will be spoilt for choice in Hatfield this weekend with two major concerts taking place in the town.

Ska bands The Beat and The Selecter, and punk groups Buzzcocks and Stiff Little Fingers are due to appear together in a co-headline show at the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus on Saturday, May 26.

The music starts from 5pm, with all four bands playing full sets.

Meanwhile, Hatfield Park will host touring pop-punk, ska punk and metal festival Slam Dunk South on Sunday, May 27.

Running from 12.30pm to 10.30pm, the festival is being co-headlined by Good Charlotte and Jimmy Eat World with eight stages of music in all.

If you enjoy pottering around antiques fairs, head over the Knebworth House this weekend.

The first Homes & Antiques Fair will take place in the grounds of the Hertfordshire stately home on Saturday, May 26 to Sunday, May 27.

If aviation is more your thing, hop over the county border into Cambridgeshire this weekend for the annual Duxford Air Festival.

This will take place at the historic airfield over the weekend of Saturday, May 26 to Sunday, May 27.

Tickets for Duxford’s first air show of 2018 must be booked in advance. There will be no on the day tickets available.
