Summer jousting at Knebworth House this weekend

Jousting will take place at Knebworth House this weekend.

Costumed knights on galloping horses will be entertaining visitors to the stately home.

The Knights of Arkley will be jousting again in front of Knebworth House on Sunday.

The turrets and towers of the gothic mansion will provide a spectacular backdrop to the action, as knights on majestic war horses charge at full tilt across the arena.

Knights will also demonstrate their skills in hand-to-hand combat, to the delight of the crowds who are encouraged to cheer, and jeer, their favourites.

There are two scheduled medieval jousting displays, at about 12.30pm and 2.30pm, depending on the weather.

Archers from the Green Dragon Bowmen will also be offering visitors the chance to try some archery. There is a small charge of £2 for six arrows.

The jousting is included in the general park and gardens admission ticket.

Entrance costs £9.50 per person, and it is free for under-threes.
