Retailers urged to enter Hertford's Winning Windows Competition to get in the Christmas spirit
Retailers in Hertford are being urged to get in the festive spirit by entering the town's Winning Windows Competition this Christmas.
To get the county town into the festive mood, shops are once again invited to enter the Winning Windows Competition in time for the Christmas Gala that takes place on Friday, November 25.
The competition aims to raise the profile of the retailers that take part, to help promote their premises and also to celebrate Christmas in Hertford.
The theme for the 2016 competition is ‘Victorian Christmas’.
The mayor of Hertford, Cllr Dr Linda Radford, will have the tough task of deciding the three best dressed windows and will announce her chosen entries at the Christmas Gala.
Councillor Jane Sartin, chairman of the town council’s development and leisure committee, said: “We have had some fantastic Christmas windows in Hertford town centre in recent years, and I hope that shops and other businesses will once again rise to the challenge and take part in the Winning Windows competition.”
The prizes for the top three are a voucher worth £80 kindly donated by Lussmanns, a family ticket to the opening night of pantomime Little Red Riding Hood at Hertford Theatre, and two pairs of tickets to Absolute Bowie on December 8 and for ‘David Knopfler’ on January 28, both at Hertford Corn Exchange and donated by the Fore Street music venue.
In order to enter, the retailer must register at Hertford Town & Tourist Information Centre to inform the council that they are taking part.
To do this the retailer can email email@example.com with their shop name, address, phone number, email and contact name.
Alternatively, they can call 01992 584322 or enquire within the Town and Tourist Information Centre in its new premises at 10-12 The Wash, opposite Hertford Theatre.
The deadline for entering the competition is Thursday, November 17, as judging will take place on Monday, November 21.
